Editorial Review for La Fiesta Restaurant – by Christy Buena

In Short
Families flock to the restaurant that serves grandma's home-style south of the border cooking featuring spicy platters served in large portions. Popular dishes include Grandma's Special, which consists of enchiladas and a special sauce combined with sour cream. Locals also flock for the fresh homemade chips that are thick and crispy, served with four salsas to choose from. Entrees typically range between $13 and $15 but the margaritas and decor make up for it. Inside the Mexican eatery, artistic paintings cover the walls and help create a homey atmosphere.

Food : Tastes are fairly common, not exclusive. I thought the "Grandma's" dish I had was way over-priced for the sub-par taste-satisfaction it provided. Ambience : Decent. I have eaten in less pretentious surroundings. Service : Fairly prompt. I don't care much for smiling waiters, but then I don't want them barking at me either. I felt one of the senior ones was overtly brusque. The restaurant had me wondering if it really is worth going back again for the experience. Competition is tough for restaurants in the Bay Area! - I wouldn't go back.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, prepared fresh, just like a Mexican Grandmother would make, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for inexpensive Americanized Mexican fast food, then go to Taco Bell. This place is for those who want the real thing. I was seated quickly, and the service was superb. The food was outstanding! Again this is not Taco Bell. They were very accomidating as well. I have dietary restrictions, which they adjusted for. You can expect to spend around $25.00 per head for an entree, soft drink, tax, and a 20% tip. I did not have alcohol. The atmosphere was just average, but I was there for the food. Try the house special. I don't remember the name, but it was chicken is a sour cream sauce. The chips and salsa were great. Ignore the reviews from those who wanted a cheap Taco Bell meal.

Pros: Thumbs Up!

Cons: None that I can think of.
