Over-Priced for Taste.
Food : Tastes are fairly common, not exclusive. I thought the "Grandma's" dish I had was way over-priced for the sub-par taste-satisfaction it provided.
Ambience : Decent. I have eaten in less pretentious surroundings.
Service : Fairly prompt. I don't care much for smiling waiters, but then I don't want them barking at me either. I felt one of the senior ones was overtly brusque.
The restaurant had me wondering if it really is worth going back again for the experience. Competition is tough for restaurants in the Bay Area! - I wouldn't go back.
Authentic south-of-the-border favorites are served at this restaurant that offers a selection of margaritas and affordable dishes..
In Short
Families flock to the restaurant that serves grandma's home-style south of the border cooking featuring spicy platters served in large portions. Popular dishes include Grandma's Special, which consists of enchiladas and a special sauce combined with sour cream. Locals also flock for the fresh homemade chips that are thick and crispy, served with four salsas to choose from. Entrees typically range between $13 and $15 but the margaritas and decor make up for it. Inside the Mexican eatery, artistic paintings cover the walls and help create a homey atmosphere.
Best Authentic Mexican Food.
If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, prepared fresh, just like a Mexican Grandmother would make, then this is the place for you.
If you are looking for inexpensive Americanized Mexican fast food, then go to Taco Bell.
This place is for those who want the real thing. I was seated quickly, and the service was superb. The food was outstanding! Again this is not Taco Bell. They were very accomidating as well. I have dietary restrictions, which they adjusted for.
You can expect to spend around $25.00 per head for an entree, soft drink, tax, and a 20% tip. I did not have alcohol.
The atmosphere was just average, but I was there for the food.
Try the house special. I don't remember the name, but it was chicken is a sour cream sauce.
The chips and salsa were great.
Ignore the reviews from those who wanted a cheap Taco Bell meal.
My Favorite Mexican Food. exican food is my favorite, and La Fiesta is at the top of my list. Others in the Bay Area hardly come close to La Fiestas flavors and food quality. Sauces are the thing here. My particular favorite is the green sauce served on the Fiesta Burrito, a very flavorful vegetarian item. The interior ambiance is bright and cheerful, and I like the fact that their location has a 'secret hole in the wall' feel off the main restaurant row. I was dismayed to read some of the harsher reviews here. OK - here's the thing - their hosts and servers can be a little flakey sometimes, especially if you come during prime weekend dinner hours - that's when this popular place is always packed. If it's a weekend, I'll try to arrive before 6:30 or after 8:30, and at those times the service always seems to run quite smoothly.
The Best Mexican in Mountain View. This is the BEST MARGARITA you'll have at a restaurant, and some of the best food in the area. Standouts are "grandma's special chicken," "chicken mole," and "chili verde." WOW is this stuff good! Can be a wait on a Friday or Saturday night, but worth it. Generally good service.
Good Chips. The chips were good but the rest of the food was WAY OVER PRICED. Service? What service... I get better service at Taco Bell. Sorry, will not return or recommend. LA Alful Restaurant.
Great Sangria but Sooo expensive.
I have never seen such an expensive Mexican restaurant in my life. I don't think I would ever go back there because there are so many other, cheaper places around. Sorry, but it's not like Mexican food is gourmet or anything.
On a positive note, the decor is nice, the Sangria is very tasty, the chips are good, and the salsas (4) they bring are spicy. The Grandma's special was a unique dish but was ~$15. Burritos are $11!
RUDE SERVICE, DO NOT GO HERE.
I think it is evident that the people who own this restaurant do not wish to provide good service.
When asked if there was ground beef available, I was shot back with a reply - "No we don't.....but check out Taco Bell, they have it." I received non-stop attitude after that.
Hey, it was a simple question and it seemed like I offended them. Like ground beef is not real mexican food or something?
Anyways, the service was terrible, and food mediocre at best. There are better places in Mtn View.
If you want to drive, try out La Paloma in Santa Clara.
If you are the owner of the restaurant, email me. I would like to hear from you.
10. Take it from a 100% Mexican, You must try Grandma's Sauce, It's the best. Their chicken soup is delicious!!!!! I recomend the Sangria, Margaritas and they have a huge selection of Tequilas. Get there early.
