Walking into Ephesus, I feel instantly welcome. It's warm and inviting. The floor plan is well laid out and everything is decorated just enough. Though the treat for my eyes, is nothing like the treat for my nose. It smells AMAZING. We were immediately greeted by a server who asked if we had a reservation. We said we didn't, and he said it was not a problem and asked if we could have a seat and wait a few minutes. No problem! Once seated, we ended up ordering the bruschetta as an appetizer. It was delicious! The best I have ever had. Every bite felt like a grand indulgance. My wife and I ate every morsal aside from the olive pits! Mmm. There were tons of vegetarian appetizers with home-made bread that I was dying to try.. but I opted for an entree that our server suggested. I wish I could remember the name.. it was a spinach and feta stuffed flakey bread. It was definitely good, but I'd love to try something else next time. My wife had the lamb souvlaki.she said the meat was seasoned very well. and i also had best mousakka which is prepared by their mum in the kitchen .my wife also wanted to try several other things as well. So I think on our next visit, we'll branch out further. The overall experience was fantastic.great family business. The staff was all friendly and professional, the bathrooms were clean, the atmosphere was very cozy, and we're ready for another visit. Definitely recommended!
Delicious food, friendly service, nice
atmosphere. I"m writing this with my 9 year old and he wants to make sure I mention that the gyros and mousakka are delicious. We went for a quick afternoon bite to eat expecting a "AUTHENTIC Greek and Turkish food " type of place. I was pleasantly surprised that it is more of an adult space with great wine and beer on the menu and there's more of a "date night" atmosphere than a "I'm with my kid and the dog is tied up outside" atmosphere.
The food is truly fantastic and the servers were super friendly and attentive.

At the end of this meal, I learned
three very important things, only one of which is pertinent now. this place serves family cooked amazing food that justifies all cravings...
We ordered the combo platter and kalamari (spelled with a "k"! how kute!) and the slovaki sandwich, gyro sandwich. There was ambiance on the table. And the water was served in blue teardrop shaped bottles. A couple across the way had ordered the dinner for two and there was a lovely pile of stuff on their table. Delicious tasty-looking piles of stuff threatening to overflow the table. The home-made pita was the thick fluffy kind, not the dry thin kind with the hole. I am not a fan of the pocket pita. I really like the thick fluffy pita.
The kalamari was well fried. Not thickly battered and not overly dry. It was only lightly dusted with some kind of starchy powder. The rings of kalamari were substantial and not chewy. Firm yet yielding. I have heard that the most elusive part of fake boobies is to get the oscillating wave function correct (i.e. grab, nudge or tap the boob, the genuine article will exhibit a ripple of a perfect oscillating wave function). If there were also tentacles, I would have been happier. I like wiggly bits.
My gyro sandwich was the biggest effing thing in the world. It was the size of my calf. The amount of meat wrapped up in a fluffy pita was enough to feed me for 3 meals. The mountain of fries was also deliciously seasoned. The meat was dripping-juicy delicious. Everything melted into one another like a really bad face-lift performed in the back alley of a third world country substituting wax for silicone and red vines for stitches. The meat was not dry, leathery, or salty. Imagine that.
The waiter was attentive, kind and easy to talk to. I wished he was my therapist. I think I'll start taking therapy here instead of at a doctor. Save me money and time. Do you know how many meals my co-pay can buy? .
I really loved this place... Far away
from SF, but is worth the trip. I was told by one of my friends, who has been there several times already, that the place is really nice and friendly with delicious food. So, we decided to give a try...
The meal starts with tasty bread and olive oil. We were given enough time to decide what we wanted to order. The waiter was super nice and friendly and took time to answer our questions. We got hummus appetizer, Alexander plate and Beyti, which were just amazing! We finished everything, even though were full with half of the portion.
In the end of our meal we had Baklava.Best baklava ever we have told their mum makes the baklava ... They have pretty big choice of beer, we are not drinkers, but it's one more plus.
and there was a couple greek girl and turkish boyfriend next to our table there were saying that to us,a family runs this restaurant. they were saying we know the difference between good and bad greek and turkish food.they gave this place 5 star.and they recommend mosakka lamacun ,spanaopita ( hope spell right ) and kunafa they claimed this desert as good as the baklava
i give this place 5 star ,clean ,good service ,awesome food .
Will be back for sure to try more of their yammi food.

we thought were going to typhoon me and my girlfriend we entered the door ,we were kind of suprised because place is chanced to greek mediterranean kitchen so quick.
and we decide to give go because we love mediterranean food.we were well welcome and seated by the waiter i think he was called GLIP and hes brother FATE ( funny really glip has british accent, fate has american accent both are brothers)
anyway we ordered their ..mum's... made soup lentil soup which absoluletly awesome 5 out 5 and the bread oh my got ( im not joking one of best restaurant bread ) we ordered appetizers lahmcun,tzatski and kalamari they were just right finely made ...we were full already but we ordered enteree's too because i have nice and big belly :):) and i was thinking if the appetizers that good i couldnt imagene how the entree's would be !
so we have ordered beyti and alexander it was again absoluletly outstanding...especi ally BEYTI never had anything like that first time ( it wont be last time for sure) and ALEXANDER i had so many places but boys dad's made alexander became the best i have to to say .glip gave us a kunefe dessert on the house ( which i love so much ) i eat regularly middle east style kunefe which was with rose water after trying glip compliment i believe middle east kunefe sucks..this is the real kunefe
i always say this... family operation business you can not go wrong. this people are built quiet nice restaurant here in the heart of castro street nice and clean, decoration is a bit different i mean very nice simply unique place..we will definetely go back there .and i will tell all of my friends to go there.we got to support place like this ..we wish them best business...
Maybe it's okay for lunch. This is not a place I'd recommend anyone go for dinner based on my experience last night. The decor (and rice droppings on my chair before I sat down) alone might be enough to keep me from coming back, but the service - though well intentioned - was pretty deplorable. Poor communication, very slow (esp considering we were the only group in the restaurant), and the waiter actually took a call on his mobile phone while he was serving us.
Tacky but great!. When I first walked in a couple nights ago I thought "oh dear"... but I was very wrong. The food is very good. Just spicy enough, very flavorful, and normal portion sizes. We ordered the full dinner, which I can never finish, and I had chicken tikka masala while boyfriend had the lamb korma. Both sauces looked so similar but the layers of flavors were quite different and equally wonderful. Excellent side dishes and creamy kheer for dessert, a favorite. The best part, though, was the tacky tacky tacky fake flower arrangements that were everywhere! Anywhere they could stick a cheap fake rose they did. I had just as much fun picking out my favorite tacky arrangement as I did eating their wonderful food! Bonus, they had Bob Marley tunes playing while we ate. The ultimate in wacky. I'll definitely be back.
