Good bay area suschi. My wife and I find this to be a place to go in the bay area when we are in sushi/japanese mood. Run by Koreans. There are more autentic sushi restaurants in the bay area but their price/quality is not as good.

This is where Google gets its sushi..... I like this place for fun, crazy rolls. Unfortunately they have no menu online, so I have a paper one at home to help me order in on tv & sushi nights!

Best sushi I've had in California. We moved here two years ago from Hawaii and had some incredible sushi restaurants there. We went to Momoya Sushi tonight and loved it. The ahi sashimi was incredible. Katsu and teriyaki - perfect. Dancing ebi roll and dragon rolls - also perfect.

Service was attentive and patient with how long it takes us to decide what to order.

My new favorite restaurant.

best in Mountain view. You could go to Palo Alto. You could find a trendier place. You could have a better location. But you would still be missing out. Bottom line, Momoya is the best I have tried. The only better sushi I have ever had was in Vancouver, Canada, and that's a bit of a drive.

Momoya makes the sushi for google, and this keeps them financially able to get the best, fresh products, even though they have a small, mundane location. They are in a complex on Shoreline, next to Safeway. It does not have the Castro street vibe, or the "see-and-be-seen" appeal of other places like Sono, but what is does have is good, fresh fish, and excellent entrees.

I would suggest the spare ribs. The sauce is multifaceted, and the ribs are succulent. The only problem is that the portion is way too big for one person.The fish there is fresh, need I say more? it is sweet and mild, and well cut, perfect proportion to rice.

I also like coming here because they are welcoming, and remember your face. Sometimes they will prepare you a little something extra, that just makes you feel wonderful for being there. They have some fabulous, creative rolls, but I stick with the maguro nigiri, because it is lovely in itself. (though its great in the golden california rolls, and the crunch rolls are too good to stay away from)

The one complaint is the miso soup, which is lacking in tofu, and seaweed, it is a bit chincy, and served mostly as an afterthought. Other than that, if you truly appreciate sushi, skip the fancy places, and try Momoya. It is easy to become loyal.

Excellent authentic Japanese food, great service too!. This is my first review, so I hope it's okay. I went to this restaurant with a friend who highly recommends it. The store front doesn't look impressive in a strip mall right between other restaurants, but the interior decor is a bit reminiscent of small Japanese restaurants in Japan, with a sushi bar where you can sit and watch the sushi chef do his stuff.

The food here is amazing. We ordered salmon sashimi for our appetizer, and they were the thickest most tender sashimi slices I've ever eaten, at least twice as thick as those you find in typical restaurants. For main course, we ordered oyako donburi and some special rolls. Unlike oyakodon in mediocre restaurants which has only some onions with overcooked egg as topping, the oyakodon here was topped with more various vegetables including onions and carrots, and egg that is just slightly runny for tenderness. In addition, they also sprinkled some nori flakes on top. What impressed me was the attention to detail with which they create dishes that just feel so much more authentic.

The special rolls were also quite excellent, a notable one being the Three Amigos, a giant roll with 3 kinds of sashimi in it: salmon, tuna and yellowtail. One of our rolls didn't have avacado in it, probably because we went there a bit late and they ran out. We didn't realize this until at the end when the waitress gave us a small complimentary roll (forgot what it was, something spicy that was also very good). Needless to say, this restaurant really takes care of its customers.

The sashimi plate was around $10, and the most expensive sushi roll we ordered was probably around $14. For a price comparable to most typical Japanese restaurants, you actually get what you paid for here. We were very satisfied with our experience here, and I would also highly recommend Momoya.
