Editorial Review for Red Room--CLOSED – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Everything in this hypnotic space is red. Stacks of translucent liquor bottles flank the entrance, which gives way to a horseshoe bar that spans the far side of the petite room. Attractive female bartenders set the pace, selecting a sexy mix of acid-jazz and slinging well-made cocktails for the hipster clientele and Commodore Hotel guests. Across from the bar, throw pillows adorn curved booth seating, perfect for sidling up to a new friend.
The Draw
An all-red bar has the potential to be a one-trick pony, but the decor is actually pretty cool--varied by a plethora of textures, like golf ball-like dimpled walls and drapes behind the bar. Packed on weekends and pretty tight most other nights, it's worth the squeeze just to join the lively crowd. Tangy, well-poured cosmopolitans are the drink of choice.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThis is the official Commodore Hotel bar, but the hotel is not physically connected to the Red Room.
When to GoArrive early or you'll be standing and posing all night. Even for large parties, the Red Room doesn't reserve tables.
Save MoneyHappy hour (Mon-Thu, 5pm-7pm) features $4 specialty cocktails, like cosmos and red-colored lemon drops.
ParkingUnless you score street parking, the Sutter-Stockton garage offers the best deals (especially after 6pm). Beware: The lot closes at 11pm on weekdays and 12am on weekends.

This place speaks for it self. It doesn't get any better with service, ambiance and crowd. One of many places to visit thru the course of ladies night out.
Pros: classy

the bar was so small and crowded that i felt like i was cloistered in a bathroom with 80 other boring people. plus, the red veers too close to being a gimmick, and as with all gimmicks, a taste is all i needed -- i don't think i'll be going back again.
Cons: small size
