Disappointing.... We arrived 10 minutes early for our 8:30 reservation, were told we would be seated on time and were actually seated at 9:00. The service was horrible. The wait staff was inattentive and it took long time to flag someone down to take our order and even longer to get our food. Our crab dip appetizer was small even for an appetizer. My fried chicken meal arrived cold and bland. My friend's steak dinner was great. All in all it took two hours to get out the door. It's really not worth the wait.

Superb New Orleans dining. Nola is fantastic for superb New Orleans dining. The ambience is excellent and makes me feel like I'm in downtown New Orleans (although I've never been there). Their jambalaya is excellent - nice and spicy with healthy portions of meat such as chicken, shrimp, etc. Great atmosphere and excellent food if you're looking for a fun and exciting dining experience.

It can be a bit noisy since it's quite hip and very social. It's also very busy so you'll probably have to wait a bit during prime-time (1hr 15min for 5ppl. on a Friday night).

A colorful explosion of Caribbean flavors with California flair tossed in for good measure.. The Scene
The place to be is the boisterous courtyard, where local Palo Alto businessmen loosen their ties, kick up their heels and order pitchers of margaritas and rum-laced Caribbean cocktails.

The Food
This is true Southern cooking, from the alligator sausage dumplings to the warm jalapeno cornbread and chipotle butter. Your best bet is to throw caution to the wind and head directly for the spice. Try the salmon ya ca mein spring rolls with wasabi-mustard dipping sauce (guaranteed to clear your nasal passages) as well as the spicy Hoo-Doo Voodoo chili. Skip the wine list in favor of one of the excellent cocktail specials. The hurricanes and margaritas are particularly good.
