What People Are Saying About California Cafe

The Scene – The Stanford Barn location is in a historic building with exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and a swinging exhibition kitchen; the Los Gatos location just underwent an extensive and beautiful remodeling. – – The Food – California Cafe serves enough sun-dried tomatoes and arugula to feed a health-conscious army. Despite the stigma of being not only a chain, but a mall chain, California Cafe still makes most people's top restaurant lists due to its crackerjack service, stylish interiors, and a devotion to fresh produce.

Food is very tasty and service very good. We had the hamburger for lunch and couldn't believe how large the portions were and how tasty the burger was.

  • Pros: Great desserts
  • Cons: Very Noisey

Small Servings Pack Big Flavor

by delphicsoul at Citysearch

As I tend to eat more than I need to I had a little bite of everyone's meal when I dined here yesterday. I had the petite looking new york steak (medium rare) which was crusted with black peppercorn and came with a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. The meat was moist and tender and it was delicious. My brother had the huge cobb salad in which the portion and the freshenss of all the ingredients were exceptional. My wife had the crab sandwich which came with a side salad. The crab was dry but still packed a lot of flavor on top of the sourdough bread. The grandma had a juicy burger with not-so-great french fries. The fries tasted like they were microwaved. The service was slow and it took a while to get our drinks.

  • Pros: Location, Parking, Quality of food
  • Cons: Small portions, slow service
