new location - better parking and beautiful. my Chinese parents bring us here when they don't want to cook at home so you know its real Chinese food. Great service - they've always been flexible about changing the ingredients for picky eaters in my family. My favorite items are the chicken soup w/ noodles, crab with shanghai flat noodles, chinese squash stir fried, and fish fried with dried seaweed.
You might say Szechuan. You could say Mandarin. But what you really mean is the Chinese-American winners that make you whisper "sweet and sour pork" in the night..
The menu at all three Su Hong locations (dine-in at Menlo Park and Palo Alto, and a takeout-only spot in Menlo) includes a lot of classics that date all the way back to their launch in 1977. It's strictly old guard, with orange peel beef that won't bite you in the bum, cashew chicken chockablock with celery cubes, water chestnut nuggets and whole toasted cashews, and pot stickers that are worth a long chopstick chase. The Chinese chicken salad has reached legendary status throughout Silicon Valley.
Su Hong is a lovable anachronism, prized for its predictable food served in an unfussy dining room where no one worries about what to wear. Families, casual business get-togetherseveryone leaves with fortune cookie on their breath and a smile on their face.
