Sushi rolls are actually a reasonable size, meaning you can fit one in your mouth versus having to take a bite out of one and have it all fall apart. The portions are not so generous given the price and waits can be long even with a reservation.
One of the best sushi restaurants in Bay Area. Either for lunch or dinner -- fish is always fresh, rice is perfect, service is prompt, staff is very pleasant. The only complaint I have is the bill -- over $100 for 2 people, which means portions are smaller than most other places, but well worth the exatra dow. Rolls are exceptional. Another thing to be aware of is it seems like it's popular for family dinners -- on a Sunday night there might be quite a few people with kids, and with arrogant peninsula crowd consideration for comfort of others is the last thing on minds of geniuses showing up there with babies.
Way overpriced.
I was very disappointed by this place. I had heard it's expensive but that they have good sushi. Wrong. It is way overpriced for what you get, and the sushi is mediocre. For the price I would expect way better food than that. The service is o.k., the table next to us was getting really slow service so I think it depends on the waitress you get. Ambience is o.k., and clean. Definitely not authentic if you are looking for an authentic experience.
As a Japanese person, this sushi place is NOT recommended there are better sushi places in the bay area for a more reasonable price.
not as great. Ok their website is BEAUTIFUL! but dont be fooled. we waited for over an hour for our food bc i thought it was going to be worth it. the sushi was really really underrated. my roll was DRENCHED in teriyaki sauce which was weird because i've never seen that on a california roll. their ice cream was good. with the red beans on top of it.. it was a nice place on the inside.. it's just not as good as everyone says it is. i was very disappointed because i love sushi of all types and have had it all good and bad.
Avoid California Rolls and Sake Nigiri. Previously, I enjoyed fresh, delicious sushi at Fuki Sushi. I went this Sunday, 6/18, and the California Rolls used fake crab legs instead of the fresh crab meat they used to be famous for. The Sake Nigiri was fatty and didn't taste fresh. What a disappointment! It had only been a couple months since I last went. Obiviously, something happened. The rating on citysearch.com needs to change for Fuki Sushi, it was not a 9.2. Give that rating to Naomi Sushi, they have been consistently good.
Better Dining In than for Take out!. We ordered take out our first time trying the food and it was OK. The next time, we tried dining in (this is supposed to be the best place around) and the food was better, the ambiance was enjoyable and the staff were friendly. We got to try more dishes - and liked the fried tofu appetizer, loved the Dragon and Almond Shrimp Rolls, and for dessert the coffee mochi we tried to split was so good, we had to order another! We find the prices reasonable, except for any of the noodles, they aren't to our liking.
Best Japanese for more than twenty years. I really love this restaurant, as I have been eating there for more than twenty years; with family, friends, alone.... The service is excellent, especially when I am alone, although sometimes when I am with family it can be a little sluggish...hmmmm (grin). Heeheehee. Anyway, back to the review.....Food is excellent, especially the Spicy Agedashi Tofu, the Soba soups, the House salad, and the tempuras. I love the added daily special menu. I have recently become highly fond of sushi, and the sushi here is delicious. The hosts (owners)--I have known them a loooooooooong time--are soooo wonderful.
This is a good japanese place especially. for sashimi, but not for rolls. My salmon teriyaki was overcooked and didn't flake nicely as it should. I was disappointed esp. since it was way overpriced.
forget aboutit. It's too bad you can't return the food you ordered. Since my favorite place closed in palo alto (hygashi west) I tried this place. From the get go things went sour; service was bad took forever to get our drinks, portions small, yellow tail was chewy. the owners have personalities like stop signs. I changed my table 3 times. All this for $120.00 out the door.
Too Expensive!. Fukisushi is way overpriced. A Dragon Roll is $12, Spider Roll $9.50, and Rainbow Roll $9.35. My boyfriend and I had sushi and sake and the bill was $120 before tip! The seats are incredibly cramped and the mood is totally unromantic because you can hear the conversation next to you. There are so many better Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area that are half the price.
