poppy Jasper amber aleNamed after a precious for of quartz indigenous to only morgan hill, california, this classic dark ale is smooth & refreshing. its dark color results from the use of caramel, higher kilned dark crystal & chocolate malt. the beers flavor is malty & fruity w/ a subtle roastiness. to finish poppy Jasper is generously hopped w/ galena, cascade & liberty hops for a perfectly balanced wonderfully complex character. winner of the 1995 california beer festival gold medal; 1996 great American beer festival silver medal.
Extra Hoppy Poppy JasperWe take our poppy Jasper amber & spike a finished keg w/ an extra pound of hops. for example extra hoppy poppy amarillo has an extra pound of amarillo hops added to the keg to dry hop in it. this adds a boost of hops flavor. since each different variety of hops has its own flavor the type of hops added will vary the flavor of the base poppy jasper accordingly. if you are into hops, this method of hop spiking a keg will allow you to better understand the characteristics of that particular hop. its & educational thing we do on our part for you. plus the flavors added this way are really nice (as borat would say).
