They're ok.

by reesezilla at Citysearch

I used to come here all the time when I went to DeAnza, and they're a little bit weird and off-putting, but they're nice enough people.

This place is loaded with FLYS!!!! Don't go here!

by coastalcoder at Citysearch

Ok, so I go in for a green tea and think I'll hang and check my mail. I get my tea and something to munch on and then as I sit down I'm attacked by FLYS; I mean not just one or 2, but like5-10. So after about 5 minutes of trying to get hem away, I go up and tell the person behind the counter. She props open the door and then gets upset that she had to do something. Then after about 30 minutes of trying to extinguish the flys I go back to managers office and tell them, They assure me they are going to do seomthing. They never do - They never come out an do anyhting. The helth dep should be all over these guys and shut them down.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: The Flys!!!

Hazelnut coffee to die for

by treble at Citysearch

I love the hazelnut latte. Even better yet is their tall "Coffee Society" insulated mug - I use it all the time. The desserts can be a little on sweet side, so stick to cofee. Better for the diet anyway.

Sacred grounds for coffee lovers in Silicon Valley.

by Contributor at Citysearch

What You'll Get
The Society roasts more than 34 different beans from nearly every coffee-growing country in the world. Where even the average Joe can hold forth on Central American versus Indonesian beans and the merits of La Marzocco espresso machines, the central focus is on coffee drinks. In addition to your triple skinny decaf mocha latte, medium foam, with legs, you can choose a workhorse pastry from the display case.

The Scene
The couple of comfy chairs always contain students camped out, books and laptop balanced on one knee, biscotti on the other. The rest of the small indoor tables and those on the patio area are given over to fractious couples discussing books and politics and a few hipster business types.

The Crowd
The unofficial boardroom for the Valley's counterculture, the Society predated Starbucks by years. It opened near DeAnza College in 1989, and has been overrun with student types since then. It's a great spot from which to check out local band members (and people who just want to look like them) as they sip their soy masala chai.

The Great Coffee Society

by taradelis_citysearch at Citysearch

This place has been around for awhile and nothing seems to change there even though everything has changed and then changed again in the surrounding area. Coffee Society is at the epicenter of the Dot Com boom and bust. Many of its regulars were start up execs and workers. All the while, it's maintained a loyal crowd of locals, industry-types, students and everyone in between. The people who work there are very friendly and accomodating, as are the customers. The coffee is really good, too.

  • Pros: great coffee
