MOST AMAZING SPOT IN SAN JOSE OPEN TILL 3AM!!!
by msjustine420
Every night I start feel hungry, I look at the clock and if it is before 3AM, I head over to La Vic...
Those Chile Verde Super Burritos with HOT sauce....Someone hold me down...I am going to eat myself to death...
If you get stuff to go, just ask for tons of hot sauce...They are more than willing to give you more...My first time in there I was a bit taken back- but noticed EVERYONE had a bottle of the signature HOT sauce...
Such a great alternative to Jack in the Box, Pizza My Heat, and that horrible place Iguanas around the corner....This place actually has a bit more customer service and the food is to die for!
If you are going to park, try parking on the other side of the street, or over at McDonald's....
- Pros: Open till 3AM, Best Hot Sauce, Inexpensive, Friendly Service, Downtown, Great for after the Bars...
- Cons: Easily Addicting...
a MUST GO breakfast
by 4theloveoflife
I moved out of the area about a year ago, and whenever anyboday says San Jose, I instantly crave a breakfast burrito covered in orange sauce. I wish I could get orange sauce shipped to me. For a first timer its intimidating- but you must try it. And its definitely got a kick to it! I never ate there... but I went nearly every weekend and the second I get back to California I will be there again!
- Pros: Breakfast Burritos, Nachos, ORANGE SAUCE!!!
- Cons: Location/no Parking
absolutely THE best tacos, quesadillas, and burritos anywhere in san jose
by lsthomas
Anyone who doesn't think la vic is delicous obviously hasn't been ordering right. I've tried many of the meats, and I have to say that the chorizo and carne asada are totally average, but anything with chicken is amazing. The chicken is good white meat, the sauce is the best, and everything is reasonably priced for the portion that you are given. anyone who has been dissappointed needs to go back and try a super chicken quesadilla or super chicken taco RIGHT NOW its unbelievably yummy.
- Pros: everything
- Cons: nothing
Worse place to eat in San jose
by nportillo
Ugly decoration, not parking, lack of maintenance and not customer restroom makes this place the worse taqueria that I ever visited even in Mexico. The sense of dirt and lack of sanitation that you get once you arrive is confirmed when you get in the table and see the details (walls, floors, etc)
- Pros: Hot sauce is good
- Cons: all
the best quesadilla
by joyceyhoho
most people who go to la vics usually get the burrito that comes with the orange sauce
personally i dont think the burrito is very good just average
its mostly the orange sause that makes every one like the burrito
but one thing you have to try when you go there is quesadilla
i usually get the burrito but when i got the quesadilla for the first time hands down it was the best one i ever had.
MUST TRY the super one :] very good
forgot what it was called just have everything in it
ohhh also the chips are bomb!! but its a huge serving so make sure you have enough people to finish it :]
oh yeah service: used to be very fast but it has gotton slow so be prepared to wait
- Pros: WONDERFUL SAUCE!!!
- Cons: long wait, average burrito
La Vic #2 doesn't want your money
by gordzilla
I've lived downtown for 10+ years. I travel the world for my career. And I am an avid diner and cook. I know my food. When I first moved to dtwn SJ I was loving La Victoria on San Carlos. the food came up fast and the portions were big and everything I tried I loved. So I was so stoked when they opened La Vic #2 on Santa Clara cuz my wife works across the street and we can grab lunches and dinners easily. Well, it's been there for over a year and I have never enjoyed the experience. I've tried several times, but something always is lacking. You don't get the portions they boast on their menu nor what is even normal. I get screwed on the plates, burritos and tortas every time. If this isn't enough the service is terrible. Once I called in an order at 4:30. Told them I would be there at 5 to get my order. At 5 I asked for my order. the place was empty, but they still hadn't started making my order. When I saw the chshier finally give my order to the cook I informed them that I was in a hurry and couldn't wait for them to now cook it. The cook glared like I slapped his mom and the cashier rolled her eyes and shrugged and walked away. all the service needs to do there is take your order, take your money and call your number when the order is up. No dice. The love to take you money, but pay no attention to what you actually ordered and constantly give you the wrong food. (don't call them on it though or you will get such attitude) Bottom line is that you pay too much at that La Vic to get such small portions and the attitude from the staff.
love the orange sauce
by greymouse26
It's all about the orange sauce. It's best drenching the food: lots of it. I really like the atmosphere of this place: it's in an old Victorian style house. It can get crowded on Friday and Saturday nights and finding a table to sit at becomes a problem. But, I really like their carne asada quesadillas and their burritos. They don't have free drink refills tho.
- Pros: orange sauce
- Cons: limited parking; limited seating
Orange Sauce Contains Sausage Grease
by sarah_williams
Although the orange sauce is really popular, I recently heard it is made of chorizo sausage grease, mayo and chili. They won't tell you the ingredients, so most people don't know it is not vegetarain. Why order the vegetarian burrito, only to smother it with sausage grease? I am not even a vegetarian, however I just think this mixture is disgusting. People should know what they are eating!
La Vic was great! But not anymore.
by viva_mexico
I was at La Vic's the first day they opened their doors, and I love going there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I probably provided them with enough revenue to open the second branch in San Jose. Their food was home-made, authentic, and delicious. Things have changed from the good old days. They now try to nickel and dime me on every little thing and the quality of food has gone downhill. I still go there once in a while, just to see if I can get the same old feeling from before, but I have been dissapointed. The place is now ran by teenagers with no manners, and cooks who take 10~15 minutes to prepare bad taqueria food. Who waits that long at a taqueria? Who wants to pay $0.50 for nachos? The orange sauce is still delicious, but that is the only thing going for them. I hate to say this for a restaurant that has accompanied me through my tough times, but honestly, La ic cares more about quantity now than quality. I am sorry old friend, but I will no longer recommend my friends (including City Search readers) to you anymore.
- Pros: Orange Sauce
- Cons: Bad Food, the crowd, bad service
