amici's amore

by shawn_evans at Citysearch

I finally found the ultimately thin crust, which is crisp without being too dry. A friend whose epicurean knowledge is usually trustworthy suggested the Pesto pizza. Momma mia, was I disappointed: no discernable garlic, nor basil for that matter; in fact, the topping seemed a lot like parsley moistened with olive oil, and not even an EVO vlariety. A side of tomato sauce was also flavorless. In this age when less is presumably more, none is still nothing. C'mon Acmici's, turn up the flavor.

I do like Amicis for weekday late night pizza. Their pastas are decent too. The staff is friendly and service is quick. mainly its family friendly. They have a kids menu and our kid will stay still there!

  • Pros: the ambience is casual and family friendly
  • Cons: not the best of best pizza's but decent quality

good but a bit overated

by shmedlap at Citysearch

Tried Amici's this week based on the reviews here. The pizza was good but definitely not the best pie's west of New York or even in San Jose for that matter. There were three in our group and we had caesar salad (so-so), minestrone soup (very good), pizza (good) and lasagna (very good), The wait staff was prompt for the most part but the prices are rediculously high for the pizza.

  • Pros: good minestrone soup and lasagna
  • Cons: way too expensive for a pizza

My favorite pizza & pasta joint!

by ronage at Citysearch

I love it so much, I had my wedding rehearsal dinner there! I went on the recommendation of KNBR's Ralph Barbiari. It is the best thin crust pizza out there. I like my pie with fresh garlic and the minestrone soup is great! Cool place to hang out with friends.

  • Pros: Beautiful service people and Great food!
  • Cons: No reservations taking and lack of parking

Good Pizza, Not Great

by tall1sobay at Citysearch

The pizza here is pretty good pizza, but it's not great. It has the possibility to be great. The crust is really good, one of the best. But the sauce, is just bland, almost like ketchup. It's the one thing they really need to work on. And for the money, its over priced. I do like the atmosphere, and if I'm with friends, sharing a pie, is good. If you want reallt great pizza, drive about 5 more minutes and go to Gumba's in Sunnyvale. Lots more for less.

Go if you want to spend 20$ and still be hungry

by cgosalia at Citysearch

I have been there and will never go back. Pizza was so bad, i never had so bad pizza; not even the frozen ones.....place is a bit pricey too - u feel like that esp. after such a bad dinner. pasta was horrible too...

Although we only ordered vegetarian pizzas...so do not know about the non-vegetarian ones...

  • Pros: none....
  • Cons: bad food, poor service

Great Thin-crust Pizza!

by doubledown37 at Citysearch

I've been here about 10 times and I've only ordered pizza. I've tried almost all of the specialty pizzas and they're all pretty darn good! The only downside would be that sometimes the edges of the crust would be burnt. To be honest, that never bothered me too much. It still tasted great! It had the perfect amount of toppings! If I wanted more bell peppers or tomatoes, I would've ordered a salad!!! My favorite is anything with their pancetta! Yum!!

  • Pros: Great Pizza, Friendly Service
  • Cons: Sometimes burnt crust

Ralph should be ashamed

by ktvasser at Citysearch

Amici's pizza was by far the worst pizza I have ever had - worse then Pizza Hut. The first time we ordered it based on Ralph Barbierri's rave radio reviews - it was burnt, barely anything on it, and was horrible. We thought that might be a fluke. Another time with out of town friends just back from a trip to China and crazing pizza - I suggested this place. It was again burned, nothing on it, terrible, and a total rip off. I would never get their pizza again. BoardWalk pizza is 20 times better and they aren't even a pizza place.

We ordered a vegetarian and a cheese pizza. Both were almost inedible. Almost nothing on the "vegetarian" .. hardly a meal.

My respect for Ralph Barbierri has gone down down down. No credibility.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: burned, terrible taste, no toppings

$20.00 pizza with almost no chicken!

by lovediningallover at Citysearch

I was very disappointed with Amici's. We ordered a medium pizza ($20.00) on the thinnest of crusts, two pasta dishes ($30.00), a small pizza (for one child). It was expensive - especially since all four of us left hungry.

The thinner-crust pizzas are fine as long as they have adequate toppings. The pizza they brought out had tomato sauce, a smattering of cheese, and maybe eight thin strips of chicken. (I believe there was one small sliver of chicken per slice of pizza). For the price, the pasta dishes were meager.

  • Cons: Small servings, Chinzy toppings, Expensive
