After going to the same hairdresser for over 9 years, I needed a change. My long, thick and layerd hair always felt heavy. Reading through the hairdresser bios on Nirvana's website, I chose Christine. I was impressed: Christine is sweet, attentive and detail-oriented; she knew exactly how to give my long layers lift and pizzazz. She takes her time to dry and meticulously style my hair-and I have A LOT of hair; I have never felt rushed through an appointment with her. I'm going back for my third haircut with Christine this week and plan to be a long-time client.

I have been really confused with my hair for the past couple years so I was really nervous about coming into the salon for another change. Going to NIRVANA was the best decision I have made when it comes to my hair, I was greeted right away and offered something to drink (I got the iced tea which i recommend) My stylist Janis brought me over to her station and started to help me brain storm some ideas for what to do with my hair, she recommended doing something called a "Combo Color" which is a all over color and hilites, and I am soooooooooooooooooo happy with the outcome of of my hair, I have never felt 100% happy with my color, but Janis has really made me LOVE my hair. The bonus with my service was the hand massage and scalp massage! I will be visiting NIRVANA again very soon!

Pros: Stylist Skill, Friendly Helpful Staff, Ambience

Cons: When your relaxing scalp massage comes to an end!

I was very impressed with the Nirvana Salon in Los Gatos. I selected senior stylist Kayla and won't be going back to the other stylist in Los Gatos who I have been going to for the last 8+ years. I was looking for a new style that would work well for my hair type and lifestyle (both a mom and a professional). Kayla did a fantanstic job describing the styling process so I could duplicate it at home and gently recommended Aveda products without being pushy. The salon was quite small but comfortable. I will be going back again and highly recommending both the salon and Kayla to my friends and family. Thank you for a great haircut!

Pros: Qualified Stylist, Friendly Atmosphere, Great Location

I have been going to Nirvana for almost a year now. I must say, I cannot get enough. I have many years working in the salon industry and I even worked for Aveda for several years. I know the product and I know the philosophy. Many salons say they are Aveda but they don't do the Aveda services the way they are supposed to. Nirvana does! When you go expect a fully pampered experience. I would like to add that Raymond is beyond exceptional. I have very thick curly hair and he fully gets it. His scalp treatments are decadent. His cuts are creative and up to date. He always takes the extra time to make sure each hair is in perfectly in place. His color is the best I have ever had! His styling has always brought me a wealth of compliments. The icing on the cake though is that he has an amazing spirit and is so much fun to hang out with. If you can't get into him because I am hogging all of his appointments the whole staff is excellent as well.

Pros: Services, Experience, Aromas, Relaxing

Cons: Around noon parking can be difficult.

This salon has good guest service, good tea and Aveda products are nice. In terms of actually working on your hair, the quality of service is uneven. I tried this salon several times because of the high ratings on this site but I haven't been happy.

I had a bad experience at this salon. I didn't get the service I requested and they charged me a lot more than I expected. The explanation as to why I was being charged extra for the service did not make sense. I will not go back to this salon.

Pros: Good tea

Cons: Doesn't do what's requested, changes price after the fact, charges extra for blowdry, toner, etc.

From the moment you walk in the door, you can see that this salon is different from others. In a small, intimate atmosphere, the owner and her staff beautify the denizens of Silicon Valley. After a long day at tthe office, the treatment and pampering which begins with a shampoo and scalp massage helps to work out the stress of the day. The wine and tea offered don't hurt either. With difficult hair such as mine, it has been difficult to find a stylist who is able to work with it as the owner, Laure', has done. I can't recommend enough Nirvana for taking care of your coiffure.

Cons: Laure gets booked up 6 months in advance

The atmosphere is good HOWEVER they do not style when you just get color. They only style when you get a haircut. Come on! That is the most lamest thing. They way overcharge for a haricut so I go elsewhere for that. I walk out with wet/damp hair and can't even tell what the color looks like until later when my hair has dried all frizzy. They do charge extra if you want it styled. LAME! Just wanted to forwarn anyone that might be thinking of going there. Also, what are these messages and oils everyone is talking about?? Is that with a haircut only again?? With the price you pay, they should be styling everyone's hair. No one should walk out of a salon with a wet head. Come on! I go to Rage now. That is a great salon and my hair dresser takes her time making sure my hair is perfect. I mean it is like their art so you would think they would want advertise on their customers. That is how you build the clientele.

I was going to Aveda salons for years, and whenever I move, I always look for one in the area. I found one, and it was horrible experinece. So, I looked more and found NIRVANA... I recently went to Nirvana for my first visit and was very happy with the results. My stylist, Jenise, made sure she understood what I wanted done with my hair but also gave her opinion when I asked for it. She toned my hair that it wouldn't be any bassiness and I loved the hair color she recommended! I also appreciated the advice she gave me to maintain my hair color and to keep my hair as healthy as possible. She also corrected my owful haircut from my previous experience, and it looks great. Definitely recommend this salon, high quality service together with spiritual Aveda approach. I already scheduled my next appointment.

Pros: high skilled staff, great products, nice atmosfeer

Cons: not enough room, crowded

I just went and got my haircut yesterday at the Nivana Aveda Salon and I loved it! I recently moved from San Diego back up to San Jose and I've been searching and searching for a place to get my haircut. I'm totally crazy about my hair and always nervous about finding a new hairdresser. I read all the great reviews about this salon and decided to give it a try. Made an appointment and the young girl on the phone was very pleasant to speak to. Got there and was surprised to see what a tiny salon it was, but was still excited about the amount of clients that were coming and going in the salon. I was greeted, on time, by my stylist, Raymond and then we went off to his chair. I liked him instantly. He asked me what I wanted and then explained step by step what he was going to do with my hair. I loved it! I got a wonderful aromatic scalp massage at his chair and then once again at the shampoo bowl. While he was cutting my hair, he explained again what he was doing step by step and when i was done, I was so excited! I have very thick hair and sometimes people dont understand how to work with that hair, but he did a wonderful job! already made my appointment for 6 weeks! I will definitely be going back soon and I already referred him to some of the girlfriends that were in the market for a new hairdresser!

Pros: great haircut at a great price, friendly atmosphere

Cons: small salon, but a lot of character in it!
