We came in at lunch time on a thursday. We had to waiters that took our order 3 times didn't get it right. The order for tea had to be placed multiple times and finally the waiter had to be reminded to bring it by. The food quality was good but the service was a huge deterrent.
Pros: Intersting menu and good food
Cons: Really bad service and is located in a stinky best western.

After reading all the great reviews, we decided to check this place out. Located inside the Best Western in Milpitas, there was ample parking, and the decor was really nice. The waiter was pleasant, however, we were the only patrons during the weekday evening. Unfortuneatly half of the appetizer menu was unavailable (out of 4 appetizer choices). However, they do give you a complimentary appetizer of herb naan, with a mint sauce that is really good. We decided to just go for the main course and ordered the Butter Chicken and Karahi Lamb (all served family style). The Chicken was tender, but the sauce seemed to have a little too much tomato sauce / paste. The Lamb was excellent. The entrees come with Plain Naan and Rice. The Naan were perfect, probably the best I've ever had. We will most likely check this place out again, in order to hopefully try the crab tikkis (crab cakes) appetizer that was unavailable at the time. The food is really fresh and good, but it would be nice if they had a couple more choices on the menu.
Pros: Great Food, easy parking, complimentary herb naan, fast seating.
Cons: Not all items on menu available. More selection would be nice.

Hi- This is a long overdue review- I eat out a lot. One of my new favorite foods is Indian cuisine. I tried to get use to the ordinary dirty not tidy and weird type Indian cuisine. With respect to all I was told this was more of a cultural thing where India is a poor country so hence the lack of ambiance. I was floored and amazed when I first came to Spice Route. The place is just beautifully decorated with beautiful plates and touches like a small butter knife over the plate which just adds a certain gene’Sequa. The lighting is perfect. They say the server makes the meal! SR is run by a fiancé team which are paired perfectly. She is this sweet charming girl from Florida- has awesome customer service skills and truly cares about your requests and order- he a handsome third generation stout Indian man pours excellence in the food- From the concoction you dip your nhan into to the butter chicken and vegetable plates I have never tried before – WOW! YUM! You have to try this small gem in Milpitas which I promise soon will be standing room only…
Pros: the staff, food, ambiance
Cons: it's hidden away where many may not know its there

Great quality food, flavorful curries (sauces), attentive service, and complimentary naan, and this naan is the best I've ever had. That's why it gets 5 stars. The menu is small, they stick to what's available, and what they're good at, and that's fine with me since it has dishes that I love. I was told the menu also changes slightly every so often. Starting with the naan. I love the herb naan with the pesto. It's fresh out of the oven and just deliciously chewy. If you 're a purist, they also offer plain naan, just as good. I love fish, and they make a mahi mahi (cubed, no bones) in a curry that's slightly coconuty, with a ginger kick. It's very delicious. I also like their butter chicken, with a tomato sauce base. It's tangy with popping flavors and the chicken is tender. This restaurant is within a block of the 237 and 880 Milpitas exit. But, it 's not easy to see since it's not on the main street. It's inside the Best Western hotel. Very clean, airy, simple Asian decor. Nice Casual. There's a bar with a tv. Server is very attentive and helpful.
Pros: delicious food
Cons: not in a ritzy neighborhood

We were delighted to see all of the seafood options here. The mussells and crab cakes were great, although the crab was a bit salty. The Mahi Mahi curry and stir fry prawns were wonderful, both were cooked perfectly and the prawns had a wonderful texture. All of the dishes had their own distinct flavor. VERY GOOD!!!
Pros: Seafood options, great naan

I didn't think the location was as odd as everyone makes it out to be. It is slightly off of the main rd (calaveras blvd), and It is in a hotel, but most hotels have restaurants. Although, I will admit that this restaurant is much, MUCH nicer than the hotel it is attached to. Upon entering you know right away that this is not your average Indian restaurant. It gives off a very modern vibe. It doesn't at all smell like curry when you walk in. Service is friendly and very helpful. And best of all the food is fabulous. We had perfectly cooked lamb chops with a wonderful flavor and mouth numbing chili chicken with piping hot fresh naan. The menu is limited at this small restaurant, but everything on the menu looked good.

My husband and I ventured to this restaurant for dinner last week and were completely delighted with what we found. Our first impression was great, it is the first Indian restaurant I have been to that cheerfully greeted us when we entered. We ordered the mussels to begin the meal and they were great! They tasted so fresh. For entrees, we had the aachar chicken and the salmon dish. We were a little unsure of what to order, but our server was very friendly and informative and knew the menu front and back. The menu was a bit short, but I like the idea of smaller menus because then you know the food is fresh and made to order. It's really too bad that this cute little restaurant is hidden where it is. I highly recommend for Indian food.

Went here with a very special person. Was definitely romantic. The presentation was good. Nice silverware and plates and the tiny wooden cup in which the salt was served was the best part! The menu is very small, and if you are a vegetarian you will not have much of a choice. We had the Gobi Machurian, it was dry and spicy, just as we wanted. The Baingan Bartha was not too bad, but I have tasted better. The Naan is soft. One bad part was- its tough to spot. We went up and down on Abbot Ave and then finally found it. If it was not for the mention of Best western hotel in one of the reviews here, it would have been tougher!
Pros: Presentation gets an A+.
Cons: Not much variety for vegetarians and tough to spot.

You gotta love a restaurant that tells you a dish is spicy and REALLY means it. This is one of those places. We ordered three things that were labeled spicy, chili wings, chili chicken and karahi lamb. All three were wonderful, the wings were mouth numbingly spicy, but still full of flavor. Naan is free, well it comes with all entrees, and you can choose between herb naan or plain, the herb is the way to go. Cool decor and great service.
Pros: great food
Cons: location is odd

First off, I guess they have changed the menu around because this is an Indian restaurant. Not all that fusiony, not pan-asian, straight up Indian with a couple of Indo-Chinese dishes. The prices seem high at first, but include unlimited fresh naan, rice, raita, chutneys etc. Naan is really good, perfect texture. Butter Chicken, Gobi manchurian and chili chicken (more like chicken 65) were all awesome. Lamb burgers, one of the few fusiony dishes, were delicious. Service was friendly and professional. I like! P.S. If you map out directions, know that this place is actually in the Best Western Hotel. It took us a few minutes to fugure this out.
Pros: Food, service, ambiance
Cons: As stated by everyone else, very odd location.
