Very expensive. I wouldnt go there again. They charged me for something that they fixed only recently. They are very expensive. I would suggest a dealership would be cheaper than this place. If you want to get value for your money, I wouldnt go here. There are plenty of other good european car repair shops which are much cheaper and do a good job. For a small job they would easily charge 1000 for labor - initially they will quote only couple of hundred dollars in the estimate. And dont deal with Ralph...

I LOVE my mechanics!!!!. I wouldn't trade Ralph and his shop for anything! My latest car has more bells and whistles than I know how to use. Great for my husband who loves Audi's, but for a mom, I really just want to get to places safely. Every time I have to go to European Auto Works, its never been convenient for me (as a mom) yet they always do the most to make it the least painful, and go the extra mile to explain what needs to be done, why, and what its going to cost. With this shop, I get no surprises....other than "really, my car can do that too?!" It makes the maintanence and random car necessities in life, not so bad. Thanks for the most recent check on my random warning light problem and tire imbalance. That was scary! Mostly thanks guys for being so honest, and really caring. Your thrilled customer since 1995, Zsuzsa S.

Took forever and other issues. I understand that changing out the timing belt on a Passat is no small task. Still, they gave me an estimate and an expected pick up day/time and they were unable to actually deliver my car fixed and on time. A large inconvenience when you're a mom!

I thought the cost seemed over the top expensive and it was accompanied by a staff that was basically too busy to tend to the customers in the waiting room. When we did finally get the car checked in the owner was aloof bordering on condescending ~ tho I don't deny that he knows his stuff.

Lastly, while I know it's superficial, I found it incredibly annoying that they removed my license plate frame without asking, to display their own EAW license plate frames on both the front & back of my car! You can bet I popped those off immediately when I got home and put on the ones that were supposed to be on there. Seems awfully presumptuous to assume I would want to advertise for them.

Can't recommend them.

The TDI GODS in Mountain View!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I had my 2001 VW beetle DIESEL at another shop for a check engine light. Some of the items get fixed , but the owner got frustrated with the car for lack on knowledge about Diesels. I limped the car over the EUROPEN AUTO WORKS and within hours Ralph and his staff had an answer for me on the car. I travel for work and they kept the car for me and worked around my travel schedule. The car now is very fast and gets 48mpg around town. The nice part about the job is the entire car was looked at and all the items were delt with on the car. This saves time and frustration for me on having to bring the car back. I live in Los Gatos and getting to the shop is easy, I ride LIGHT RAIL from Winchester station and get off across the street from the shop. IF you have a German car or anything thye will work on go there. This is a very stress reducing shop to deal with. The prices are very fair. The staff keeps you informed with all the steps taken and answers all your questions. I have found a new home for the TDI. THANKS!!!!

"BEST" GERMAN CAR SHOP in Mtn. View. The staff at European Auto Works are extreamly knowlegeable. They have saved me Hundreds of dollars in unnecessary repairs that the Dealer Was trying to perform pre-maturely. Example: My Audi was at the dealer for an oil service. They told me I needed rear brakes. They gave me an estimate of almost $600.00. Upon my surprise I called European Auto Works for a Quote. They gave me a fair estimated cost of $430.00

dollars. They offered to inspect my brakes at while I stoped by for a second opinion. (At no charge.) When I stopped by they said my brakes aren't even half worn out. "What a shock." They gave me a card and asked me to call on them next time I need service. Now that's integrity! I have used them now for over three years and am very happy I found them.

Worth every penny!. We've been using Ralph for fifteen years for three different cars (Volvo, VW, BMW) and have always had excellent and personal service. He and his team are comptent, efficient and I have been able to trust what he says. He isn't the cheapest at just under $100/hour but you get the job done right and with integrity.

I am just a happy customer who has had the usual experiences with car dealerships and the local garage, and I needed no inducement to write this review.

~Matt

p.s. The reviewer who had a quote of $225 to change the headlights - was that just the bulbs or the units? And nothing else? Seems like there's more of a story there.
