Carry some Airwick Spray!
by nocky
This is a fine bar, but you need to carry some air freshener! My boyfriend and I were standing at the bar, and suddenly the cloud surrounded us. It was as if someone opened up the lid to the sewer and the gas permeated our area. We had to sprint up the stairs to get away from the flatulence someone let near the bar. We hid upstairs, playing darts, until we felt confident we could make it to the exit door without losing consciousness.
I guess the patrons shouldn't eat the bar food, because the emissions after the meal are rank. Bring your own darts, too, because the bar set is well worn.
Worst service ever

The bouncers refused to let me in because I had an out of state ID. They let all my friends with California ID's in and then told me I couldn't come in. I was stone cold sober, well dressed and well behaved in line.. doing absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. When I got mad, the bouncers got out rolls of nickels to use as weapons! Then the lead bouncer accused me of being high and drunk, said he himself was California PD and would run me in on charges. I wasn't worried about that since I WASNT high but the sheer rudeness, arrogance and disrespect was shocking! Who would put up with that? Not me. We ended up driving to mountain view to find a bar. Clearly going to Scruffy's is a waste of time and effort. I recommend you save yourselves the trouble and just go to any other place you can find.
An Irish bar-meets-dance club on Murphy Avenue.
by Kim Cooper
One of several Irish bars on the street, Scruffy's has cross-the-pond appeal, with frosted-glass panels, long wooden bar, vintage cigarette machine and a map of Ireland on the wall. The long, narrow space is dark and cool, with lots of nooks and crannies where the mostly 20-something crowd can hide out with their friends. Bouncers keep out the riffraff and make sure things stay safe and mellow inside. On weekends, scores of young girls turn out on the small dance floor for hip-hop and club hits and to enjoy inexpensive well drinks. The small upstairs smokers' patio is a good place to sneak off for conversation away from the pounding beats. The kitchen serves pub grub, including fish-and-chips (all you can eat on Monday nights). On the jukebox: everything U2 ever recorded, Dave Matthews and Britney Spears.
Great Anytime

With all that downtown Sunnyvale has to offer, Scruffy's is a nice stop regardless of the day and time. With great weekend social scenes to fun and relaxing weeknights, Scruffy's brings a nice bridge between the regulars of the bar and those in for a quick visit. While still charging low prices for their vast beer selection, anyone can enjoy their darts, pool, and seven tvs showing every and all sporting events of the day. Bartenders are quick to serve and aim to please, and even their new staff acts as if they've been there for years. As they say, "there are no such thing as a stranger, just people that they havent met yet. Great on weekends, great on tuesday and thursday nights. Good times all around, a great bar for a greeat crowd!
- Pros: Bartenders, Inexpensive, Social Scene
- Cons: Can be overcrowded, Small Dance Floor, Too many beers.ha!

This place has a laidback atmosphere. The people are great the men are great ! Unlike the San jose scene the men arent afraid to dance. This is a great place to meet new people or to just kick it. As for the music they play a great mixture. The bouncers are always cool.
- Pros: lots of parking, music, hot men
- Cons: small dance floor

inviting. They loaded my plate with great food. I was also suprised to
find this place for lunch as well. As far as the staff, I was comfortable.

Best after work pint!
by tdwelle
The service here has always been great.
We come here after a hard day at work, and it's our own little "Cheers!". They know us by name, they know our drinks.
Eclectic live music, interesting crowd.
Fun place to people watch or see a soccer match!
- Pros: female staff, good food, cheap pints
- Cons: costly mixed drinks, male staff
Disappointing
by shivvy98
I was really excited to go to this bar - I saw the citysearch scores and heard of trivia night- but I was very disappointed. It took almost an hour for the waitress to ask if we wanted a second round. I've been to a lot of trivia nights - and this one was WAY too serious. There was no music. Just silence between questions, and you hardly had enough time to write down the question let alone have fun putting down your teammates answers. Lastly - some of the employees (not all) were definitely not friendly.
- Pros: Inexpensive, relaxed, spacious
- Cons: boring, mean, lame
