Good, not great
by al04
This place has good food, but for a restaurant with the average entree price being $30, you expect slightly better or at least more creativity. The portions are fairly large though. Everything was fine but there wasn't something that made me very excited to go back again.
- Pros: quiet, romantic place
- Cons: obscure location
nice presentation, bland food

Food looks better than it tastes. Service is good. What is ridiculous is that there is a parking lot right in front of restaurant yet u need to valet it. And I'm talking about parking your car 10 feed from the restaurant door!
- Pros: food looks "pretty"
- Cons: over priced for the way the food tastes
A high-tech adult playground, there's a New York Stock Exchange ticker mounted above the bar and a phone at every table.

The Food
Changing over time, the menu now reflects Silicon Valley's growing preoccupation with health. Starters include grilled asparagus and eggplant napped with a red pepper coulis, rock shrimp and ahi tuna cakes with tat soi greens, and a vegetarian entree in which grilled portobello mushrooms are dressed up with baby artichokes, grilled polenta, and a piquant olive sauce.
The Scene
The Lion and Compass has been the deal-making spot in Sunnyvale for a couple of decades. A breezy California design is warmed up with antique English lamp posts and tropical foliage.
